Male, born in 2013, in the Spanish Breeding Centre of “Zarza de Granadilla”. Known among his squad as “el matador”, Kathmandú became an expert in hunting larger species such as the fallow deer.
Jacarandá
Female born in 2012 at the Iberian Lynx National Breeding Centre in Silves. She can easily be recognized for not having a black-tipped tail, which she lost in a fight against a sibling, still within the CNRLI.
Lítio
Lítio, male lynx born in 2014 in the Centre Cria de El Acebuche, was released in Vale do Guadiana, near Mértola, in 2015. In 2016, after his collar no longer emitted a signal, he was found in Huelva. That year, he was captured and once again released in Vale do Guadiana. His new collar stopped sending out a signal in early 2017 and he was tracked down in the Algarve region. In May 2018, he was sighted near Barcelona. He was then captured and released again in Vale do Guadiana, where it stabilized next to a female.
Malva
Female born in 2015. When released, Malva was startled and climbed to the top of a roof where she stayed for about a week, gaining the courage for the next chapter in her life: freedom.
Mundo
Male from Doñana, travelled to Vale do Guadiana where he met Malva. This love encounter resulted in eight young kittens in the next two springs.
Nara
On May 23rd, 2017, Nara was set free as the last release of the year. Her collar was found cut in September of the same year.
Nossa
Nossa was the first kitten born in Vale do Guadiana! Daughter of the couple who debuted this area of reintroduction – Jacarandá and Kathmandú – Nossa was the first free-born lynx kitten. A lynx is born in Portugal once again!
